Everything about Oley Speaks totally explained
Oley Speaks (1874 - 1948) was an accomplished musical composer who was born in
Canal Winchester, Ohio (Franklin County). The Canal Winchester Area Historical Society Museum has exhibits about the life of Oley Speaks, including original sheet music written by Speaks. Speaks initially was a railroad clerk until he decided to pursue his musical passions.
He was trained as a singer in New York City and began to write songs.
One of his songs, "On the Road to Mandalay" (1907) sold over one million copies.
